Just got back from eating at a place near midtown, a Chinese restaurant that looks like one of them dingy take-out joints but where the food’s surprisingly good — especially considering the price! It’s somewhere away from On Off Digital World, the big old-fashioned electronics and photography retailer, and what a contrast that makes: old world meets new, as it were…one business providing nourishment, the first thing to do in life, eat; the other selling hi-tech hardware, luxuries that have become commodities in today’s modern world of plenty. And all within easy walking distance of one another! That’s civilization for you; that’s progress.
